Salary: £24,982 - £27,741 (Grade 5) per annum

Hours: 36.66 per week

Role Overview:

The post is based within the Family Centre working with Children that are Looked after by the Local Authority. The role involves supervising contacts between the Child/young person while they have family visits with their birth family. The worker will be responsible for making detailed and accurate recordings of their time together while offering input and guidance in all areas of parenting. Family workers also support families during reunifications and complete life story work/books for children.     

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To make accurate recordings of supervised contacts between parents and children these recordings will support social workers assessments for court.
  • Support, advice along with practical guidance to parents with all aspects of parenting
  • To work directly with children who have been referred for life story work.
  • To assist parents in the home as part of the reunification plans following court process.
  • To provide verbal and/or written contributions to meetings for example Child looked After (CLA) and multi-agency meetings.  

 

Key Requirements:

To succeed in this role you will need as a minimum:

  • A level 3 Qualification within childcare, Health and Social Care or equivalent relevant experience.  Good knowledge of child development, good childcare practice respecting cultural diversities.
  • Good communication skills both written and oral to effectively work with families, colleagues and other professionals
  • Organisation skills and ability to work on own initiative, priorities own workload and meet deadlines.
