Greater Manchester
Fire and Rescue Service

Who are we?

GMFRS is one of the largest fire and rescue service in England, covering an area of 493 square miles and serving a population of 2.87 million residents, with many other people working or visiting the region. We do a lot more than simply putting out fires, delivering a range of services from 41 strategically placed fire stations across Greater Manchester.

We are focused on delivering our mission and vision and our four-year Fire Plan sets out how we aim to deliver this. We are part of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority [FRA1] (GMCA) employing organisation, and many roles that support GMFRS including People Services, Corporate Communications, Finance & Commercial are shared with the GMCA.

Core Code of Ethics

Since its publication in 2021, we have been working hard to embed the Core Code of Ethics, aligning it to our values. We believe the Core Code will help us serve our communities and make GMFRS a better place to work. It will help everyone to display and promote good behaviours and to challenge conduct that is inconsistent with the Code’s principles.
