Rochdale Town Hall

Elaborate hall with high ceilings, chandeliers, and stained glass windows.

Rochdale Town Hall is back at the heart of the community. First opened in 1871, this Grade I listed landmark has reopened following a four-year restoration made possible by an £8.9 million grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, and the dedication of nearly 500 volunteers who helped make it happen. Together, they’ve carefully restored some of the building’s most iconic features, from the Great Hall’s striking hammerbeam ceiling to the Exchange’s beautifully detailed Minton floor tiles. Alongside this, new community spaces have been created, inviting people to explore, gather and connect in fresh ways. The Welcome Gallery and Bright Hall now offer immersive experiences for visitors, while improved accessibility and modern facilities ensure the Town Hall can be enjoyed by everyone. And the story isn’t over yet—work continues on restoring the west wing, shaping the next chapter of this remarkable building.

Our Values and Behaviours

At Rochdale Council we’re proud that our Values and Behaviours have been co-produced by our staff. In 2019 over 150 staff contributed their thoughts and ideas via a series of workshops. Based on these conversations, stories, experiences and opinions, our three values and associated behaviours were established. Our Values reflect the way we do things around here; they act as a guide for how we work to deliver our corporate plan, priorities and ultimately our vision.
