Due to the expansion of Blackpool EPS, we are recruiting for educational psychologists for full time or part-time roles. It is an exciting time for Blackpool; a seaside location which is currently undergoing a high level of regeneration and investment in both the infrastructure and the services provided by the Local Authority.  It is home to Blackpool Tower and the Winter Gardens where Strictly Come Dancing has been filmed. Blackpool is a small town with a diverse range of needs but also has a strong sense of community. Professionals deeply care and advocate for children and families. Settings are easily commutable and are a short distance from the office.

Blackpool EPS is a warm, collaborative and supportive service with a high level of regard for personal emotional health and wellbeing.  The service is highly valued across the wider SEND team and Children services.  The EPS is involved in all major decisions due to the direct line of communication between the EPS and higher levels of management. There is an immense amount of professional collaboration between teams with a shared valued system.

Our philosophy is in line with Blackpool Families Rock.  This encourages the forming of relationships and using our skills to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people. Due to our innovative systems we complete the majority of reports within the statutory timeline.  Most of our work is completed pre-statutory meaning that a thorough and extensive investigation into the young person’s needs can be undertaken by the EP, school and family, resulting in the young person receiving a robust EHC plan.

The service is a mixed model of both core (based on pupil premium and free school meals) and traded time. Core time allows link EPs to form close working relationships with SENCOs and our wider school communities.  Our EPs are a valued part of the whole educational system within Blackpool, working as part of a preventative approach that enables an efficient use of time with children and young people. We work closely with parents and can work with settings over a prolonged period.

Blackpool EPS can offer successful candidates career progression opportunities including potential management responsibilities as well as work in areas such as Early Years, Post 16 Pathway to adulthood, Our Children in social care, training and other areas of interest. Trainees, new and experienced EPs are most welcome to apply.

Working at Blackpool EPS, there is genuine interest and investment to provide a healthy, happy and thriving career from new starters all the way up to those more seasoned and experienced. It is a place where you can truly make a difference.

Blackpool EPS also offers the following:

  • Hybrid working between office and home with flexibility of daily working hours to suit childcare or other personal responsibilities.
  • Work mobile phone and computer with full IT support.
  • Protected non direct time in line with AEP guidelines.
  • A designated patch of schools.
  • A full range of psychological assessments including Q interactive.
  • Allocated CPD and supervision time in line with the AEP guidelines.
  • Positive working relationships with other members of the wider SEND team and Children Services.
  • Continuous service, salary and SPA points will be honoured when validated.
  • Generous leave entitlement and options to purchase additional leave.
  • Relocation support package and discounted annual travel tickets.
  • Employee assistance programme, extensive health and wellbeing initiatives, resources, services and events.
  • Benefits and discounts platform providing offers and discounts at local and national retailers.
  • Leisure scheme with discounted membership rates at various Blackpool leisure facilities including two fitness studios.
