Salford 100
Salford City Council prioritizes trust, empowerment, openness, and cooperation, placing people at the core of its operations. The Salford 100, comprising individuals from various services, plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization into an excellent workplace. These members act as advocates for employees, contributing to initiatives like the design of the chatbot Ralf, the employer-supported volunteering scheme, and changes to recognition and internal communications. Their involvement extends to the MyWork program launch, providing valuable feedback on Salford's initiatives. Membership in the Salford 100 is open to anyone interested in positively influencing the workplace.
Trade unions
Emphasising the principles of collective engagement and bargaining, the council supports trade union membership to enhance employee relations. A positive working relationship with recognized trade unions, where stewards are part of the Salford 100, reflects a commitment to collaboration. The council's framework enables effective contributions from both officers and trade unions, promoting workforce development and facilitating local dispute resolution. Trade union support, including representation, is available to individual members. The council's approach to change emphasizes co-design principles, encouraging the active involvement of local stewards in the planning and implementation stages. Joint secretary arrangements, led by the UNISON branch secretary, facilitate collaboration on collective matters between the council and trade unions.
