Location: Trafford Town Hall, Talbot Road, Stretford, Manchester, M32 0TH with Hybrid working.

Salary: Band 7, £37,280 - £39,862 per annum

Working Pattern: Full Time

Working hours: 36.25 hours per week (flexible working available 7am-9pm) (part time / reduced hours negotiable)

About the Role

Trafford’s Trading Standards team is part of a larger group of Regulatory Services, all co-located at Trafford Town Hall. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual able to work on their own initiative, but also as part of a team; using a range of innovative problem-solving enforcement tactics to protect our Trafford residents.

The primary role of the Trading Standards Team is to conduct regulatory and enforcement functions in the areas of product safety, consumer protection, fair trading, metrology, underage sales, renters rights and animal feedstuffs.

The Trading Standards team are crucial to the Council meeting its statutory requirements in the above areas and the team provides specialist knowledge and advice in these topics.

This role offers the flexibility of hot desking / home working together with field-based work.

Continuous professional development and training is fully encouraged.


About you

You will have a Diploma in Consumer Affairs & Trading Standards / DCATS or equivalent recognised qualification and / or experience resulting in an equivalent level of skills, knowledge and legal expertise. An AFI Accredited Financial Analyst qualification (or willingness to work towards the qualification) would be desirable.

You will be responsible for delivering excellent regulatory service across the full range of Trading Standards duties (excluding food standards). You will need to demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills, together with a proven record of effective working with relevant partners and business community.

You will have flexibility in terms of hybrid working at home and in the office.

You will hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own vehicle for work use, willing to travel to and work at different sites across the borough of Trafford.
