About the role

Bury Council is seeking a committed, motivated, and dynamic Team Manager to join our Children in Care Service/Leaving Care Service. This is an exciting time to join us as we continue our improvement journey and strengthen the support we offer to our children and young people.

As a Team Manager, you’ll provide strong, valuesled leadership to your team, ensuring highquality practice and excellent outcomes for our children. Whether you are an experienced manager or a confident and skilled practitioner ready for the next step, we want to hear from you.

You will:

  • Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing team.
  • Ensure statutory responsibilities for care leavers are met to a high standard.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the service.
  • Oversee caseload management, performance monitoring, and quality assurance.
  • Work closely with partners across Bury and Greater Manchester to create opportunities for education, employment, housing, and wellbeing.
  • Champion the voice and lived experience of care-experienced young people in service development.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong understanding of care leaver legislation, guidance, and best practice.
  • Is an experienced manager or aspiring leader with a background in social care, youth services, leaving care, or related fields.
  • Brings excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire, challenge and support others.
  • Is committed to strengthsbased, traumainformed practice.
  • Can confidently manage performance, budgets, and safeguarding processes.
  • Has the drive to shape a service that puts young people at the heart of everything.
