Internal Auditor (General Audit and Technical)

- Internal Auditor (Technical)

The role profiles are attached bellow and very similar (the difference being that the technical role will specialise in, and focus on, technical / IT audit). Candidates should indicate their preference within their application.

About Us:

Salford Internal Audit Services are based out of Salford City Council, providing high quality mainstream and technical IT audit services for Salford Council and across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire, North Wales and Yorkshire; other clients include the Police, Transport Executive and the Housing Sector.

Two exciting opportunities have arisen to develop as an Internal Auditor and follow an exciting clear career pathway to join our well-established and expanding team. We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic and experienced with strong technical, investigative, negotiating and influencing skills to provide a professional service within the council and to our external clients and partners.

Internal Auditor (general audit) - this position will develop their skills within the mainstream audit team, predominantly focused on audits of our schools with a good understanding of school governance arrangements and financial administration / management within the school office. Candidates can enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid working environment in managing their own workload, work from central offices or from home and/or work out largely within the borders of Salford council areas.

Internal Auditor (Technical) - this position will develop their skills within the technical audit team, predominantly focussed on audits within IT and digital services. This position would be ideal for someone with existing IT skills particularly around cyber security and wants to transition in to technical auditing. Candidates can enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid working environment in managing their own workload, work from central offices, work from home and/or work out of specific locations across the region, depending on where they live. Workload will, where possible, be allocated within proximity to home aimed at reduced travel time to maximise work-life balance.

Expected Profile

• Contribute to the service’s achievement of the annual work plan.
• Contribute to the service’s achievement of internal performance targets as outlined in the Internal Audit Quality Assurance & Improvement Programme (QAIP).
• Clear, accurate and complete audit working papers maintained for each engagement.
• Audit findings and conclusions are supported by sufficient reliable evidence.
• Good quality documents and reports, which are clear and concise, and require minimal amendments.
• Value added to audit engagements by identifying areas for improvement to risk mitigation within processes or activities, working with your supervisor to design and recommend appropriate solutions and fit the needs and capabilities of the organisation.
• Information successfully communicated, timely, through appropriate modes of communication.
• Audit performance information systems kept accurate and up to date.
• Audit engagements completed on time, to budget.
• Positive client feedback received.
• Accurate and timely management of orders and billing for commercial work.
• Up to date and accurate log of training and professional development maintained.
• Maintain high ethical and professional standards including integrity, objectivity, confidentiality, and competency.

This is a full time position, however, we would consider applications for part time or term time working.

Location

Head office Salford: Civic Centre, Swinton, Salford. (flexible location - office / home based - various client areas in Greater Manchester, Yorkshire, Merseyside, Cheshire, and Wales).
