We have a policy on the Employment of Ex-Offenders and it is available upon request Manchester’s Housing Solutions Service delivers the Council’s statutory homelessness duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. Our priority is early intervention, helping residents keep their homes where possible, and ensuring people understand their options and next steps when a move becomes necessary. Homelessness prevention sits at the centre of our approach. The role holder will manage a varied caseload, gathering information from different sources, assessing circumstances against statutory duties and producing clear, accurate written outcomes. The role holder will agree realistic actions with residents, keep cases moving at pace and work with colleagues and external agencies to secure practical housing pathways. The role holder will build effective working relationships with partner organisations, sharing advice and information appropriately to achieve timely, lawful decisions and sustainable outcomes. Strong decision‑making and judgement, using evidence to reach balanced conclusions and understanding when to seek further advice. Analytical and investigative skills, with experience of gathering, checking and interpreting information from different sources. Ability to manage a varied caseload, prioritising work effectively and meeting statutory or service timescales. A practical, problem‑solving approach, with the confidence to progress cases and identify realistic next steps. Experience of accurate record‑keeping, using ICT systems to maintain clear, timely and audit‑ready case notes and correspondence. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to achieve positive outcomes. Commitment to equality, fairness and inclusive service delivery, treating people with respect and professionalism. Willingness to work to a rota, including shifts between 11am and 7pm.
