As Assistant Headteacher & Behaviour Lead, you will be a key strategic leader working alongside the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher to:

  • Drive the development and delivery of effective, trauma-informed behaviour policies and interventions across both school sites.
  • Lead targeted support and reintegration plans for pupils with complex SEMH, ADHD, ASC, and communication needs.
  • Coach and train staff in restorative, de-escalation, and Team Teach approaches to behaviour management.
  • Collaborate with families and multi-agency partners, including social services and CAMHS, to ensure consistent, holistic support.
  • Oversee behaviour data monitoring, reporting, and the safe management of internal exclusion and support spaces.
  • Champion the school’s nurturing ethos, Rights Respecting values, and Elklan language-friendly practises to promote a positive and inclusive school culture.

You are a dedicated and empathetic leader who:
 
  • Understands that behaviour is communication and approaches challenges with patience, resilience, and a trauma-informed mindset.
  • Has proven experience in behaviour management within SEMH or specialist settings, ideally including PRUs or alternative provision.
  • Is skilled at coaching and developing staff to confidently manage complex behaviours using restorative and positive handling techniques.
  • Builds strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families, and multi-agency teams to support holistic wellbeing.
  • Is highly organised, reflective, and data-informed, able to lead improvements and quality assurance in behaviour practises.
  • Shares and champions Bridgelea’s commitment to nurture, inclusion, safeguarding, and the Rights Respecting ethos.
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant safeguarding training, with a willingness to develop further in Team Teach and leadership.
