Peripatetic Music Teacher - Woodwind

Hours: 26 hours - 0.8 FTE (21.5 contact hours)
Location: The Lyceum, Union Street, Oldham, OL1 1QG

Role Overview:

  • To teach appropriate instruments in both small group and Whole Class programmes, in both primary and secondary schools
  • To work with relevant Music Centre groups as required
  • Some evening and weekend work will be a requirement of this post

Key Responsibilities:

  • To deliver instrumental and / or curriculum music tuition in L.A. schools
  • To monitor, record and report on pupils’ progress in a concise and literate manner to an agreed Music Service format.
  • To conduct, administer or assist with relevant Music Centre groups in rehearsals and concerts as required.
  • To direct / assist with relevant school groups as reasonable and appropriate
  • To attend and take part in concerts and festival performances as required
  • To promote the work of the Music Service in a positive way to schools, parents and teachers
  • To attend staff briefings and meetings as required
  • To meet deadlines including school reports, concert programmes and student transfer details
  • To undertake other reasonable duties as may be required from time to time

  • To be familiar with customer care and health and safety polices of the Council/ Directorate.
  • To participate in self-improvement in performance through workplace development.
  • Undertake any additional duties commensurate with the grade of the post.
  • To seek innovative ways of engaging children and young people in music
