This includes cost planning, value engineering, procurement support, tendering, contract administration, interim valuations, financial reporting, risk management, negotiation of claims and agreement of final accounts. The role will work closely with project managers, design teams, contractors, consultants and client representatives to ensure projects are delivered with strong financial control, value for money and compliance with Council governance and statutory obligations. The postholder will also contribute to the preparation of robust estimates, forecasts and cost plans to support business cases and political approvals. About You You will have significant experience of providing quantity surveying and commercial management support on building projects, including feasibility estimates, cost planning, bills of quantities, tendering, contract administration, valuations, variations, claims management and final accounts. You will also have experience of advising clients and stakeholders on financial and contractual matters across a range of projects. You will have strong working knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract, excellent commercial and financial acumen, and the ability to manage expenditure, cashflow and forecasts within a budget-controlled environment. Strong ICT skills are required, particularly in Excel, and you should be confident in presenting complex costing information clearly and effectively. You will need strong communication and negotiation skills, the ability to work under pressure and use your own initiative, and a sound understanding of the wider construction environment, including building, architectural, mechanical and electrical matters and their cost implications. The role will require attendance on site and occasional work outside normal office hours to meet service needs. Note: Please ensure that your Personal Statement is no longer than one page. We are seeking an experienced and commercially aware Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of a wide range of capital projects across the Council’s estate.
You will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline. Chartered status and full membership of RICS, or equivalent, would be desirable, together with evidence of continuing professional development.
