Join the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s (GMCA) Low Carbon team as a Senior Project Manager (Low Carbon Team) and take a leading role in one of the UK’s most ambitious regional responses to the climate emergency. As part of a dynamic and mission-driven team, you’ll manage the delivery of complex energy and decarbonisation projects, delivering a portfolio of major programmes to cut emissions and transform energy performance across the public estatewhile increasingly extending support into the private and commercial sectors. This role sits within the Low Carbon team, working at the forefront of energy generation and storage, building retrofit, and heat network development. You’ll also provide leadership within the team, shaping work plans, mentoring junior colleagues, and supporting the wider public sector to deliver innovative, scalable low-carbon solutions. We’re looking for someone with strong technical and commercial awareness of the energy and built environment sectors, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and a drive to deliver real-world impact. The role also involves managing research commissions into new technologies and delivery approaches for public estate decarbonisation, while helping build scalable commercial models and partner offers. We are looking for people with strong project and programme management experience, excellent stakeholder skills, and the confidence to provide clear technical and commercial advice in a fast-moving environment. Knowledge of areas such as energy systems, markets, economics, finance, procurement, grant administration, business case development, and tendering will be highly valuable. Experience of local government and public sector partners, particularly schools, would be a plus.
