About the Role

Are you passionate about making a difference on our roads? Do you want to be part of a bold new initiative to reduce road casualties across Greater Manchester?

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) is seeking a dynamic and motivated Road Safety Delivery Officer to support the delivery of the Vision Zero Strategy, with a strong focus on young driver education (16-25). This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new road safety programme that aims to eliminate all road deaths and serious injuries.

As a member of the Safer Roads Greater Manchester Partnership, GMFRS plays a leading role in delivering targeted education to young people. The successful candidate will deliver road safety interventions across educational establishments. You will also assist the Road Safety Coordinator on planning and executing proactive “days of action” to improve road safety outcomes across the region.

Key Responsibilities


Essential

  • Have a good understanding of health and safety, equality and diversity and safeguarding legislation.
  • Experience of coaching, training or teaching (not necessarily as a full-time occupation).
  • Experience in working in partnership with other private or public sector agencies to achieve a common goal.
  • Experience of working in a team to achieve a common goal with tight deadlines

Desirable

  • Have an awareness of road safety and the Vision Zero ambition.
  • Have an awareness of road safety educational material, NFCC toolkit etc.
  • Have an awareness of road safety and the key messages for delivery against key demographics and target audiences.


About you:


We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in partnership working, particularly within the education or public safety sectors.
  • Knowledgeable about the Vision Zero Strategy and the Safe System approach to road safety.
  • A strong communicator, capable of engaging with young people and stakeholders.
  • Proactive, organised, and passionate about reducing harm on our roads.
  • Full driving licence required
