The Role


Grade I £41,771 - £ 46,142 pay award pending plus essential car user allowance.


An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Occupational Therapist (OT) within The Independent Living Service. The Independent Living Service has 32 staff made up of Occupational Therapists, Disability Officer and Community Assessment Officers and includes the Sensory Team and Telecare Team. The OT role will involve undertaking assessments/reviews of need under the Care Act 2014, assisting with advice/techniques, equipment, adaptations, and the provision of support as necessary, and linking people into universal and voluntary services. They will also assist colleagues within other areas of the service, as necessary


This post offers an opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of innovative ways of working across health and social care to improve the experience of service users and carers and to promote wellbeing and independence.


The ability to develop, maintain and improve relationships with people and carers is essential in this role as well as the attributes required to participate in inter-disciplinary team working.

About You


We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a passion for working with adults, understanding their needs, aspirations and supporting them to enhance their quality of life and promote independence.


As an Occupational Therapist in ILS, you will work in one of our designated Neighbourhoods and undertake assessment of need under the Care Act 2014, and assist with support planning and interventions as necessary to promote strength-based practice. You will also assist colleagues within other areas of the services as necessary with specialist assessments, moving and handling assessments, adaptation recommendations etc.

    • A trained hiring manager reads every application

    • Shortlisting is based on objective criteria required for the job

    • Interviews are conducted in person or via teams by the hiring manager for the role

    • All hiring decisions are made by hiring managers, not algorithms
