Your role:

  • You will work within the Information & Data Governance Team within the Legal & Governance Directorate ,liaising with internal and external customer groups and strategic partners, including:
  • Senior Managers and staff within GMCA
  • Senior Members & Officers from across the GM Local Authorities and other regional and national Local Authorities
  • Shared service role with Transport of Greater Manchester [TfGM]

o Public Sector Organisations

o Government Departments

o Universities and Higher Education Facilities

o Private sector representatives & Managing Directors from across GM’s private sector and stakeholders/partners.

About you:

  • Provide business support and administration, including diary management, to meet the support needs of the service, managing performance and development needs to achieve work objectives and service priorities.


  • Provide business support and administration to effectively contribute to the monitoring, evaluation and improvement of all business support activities and house-keeping protocols that support the needs of the service and corporate initiatives.


  • Contribute effectively to the design, implementation and maintenance of high quality management information systems and business support activities, providing comprehensive advice to stakeholders.


  • Deal efficiently and courteously, with tact and diplomacy, to all queries and correspondence, both written and verbal from a wide range of internal and external customers.


  • Provide accurate research and analysis support where required and produce a range of high quality communication, such as emails, reports and briefing notes for various audiences and purposes including complex, confidential and sensitive correspondence.


  • Provide support to senior officers as required, including attendance at meetings, taking of notes/minutes of meetings as required.


  • Procure, monitor and maintain office stationary and equipment, ensuring changes are made in line with procedures, budgets and agreed timescales.

  1. What Is AI and How Do We Use It Across Greater Manchester?

    AI refers to technology that can create or refine content, such as text, ideas, summaries, or planning. It can help improve productivity, problem-solving, and creativity.

    We’re open to using innovative digital tools where they can help us work smarter and deliver better services for our residents. However, every use of AI is carefully considered to make sure it is ethical, responsible, and aligned with public-sector values.

    When it comes to recruitment, we take a human-centred approach.

    This means:

    • A trained hiring manager reads every application

    • Shortlisting is based on objective criteria required for the job

    • Interviews are conducted in person or via teams by the hiring manager for the role

    • All hiring decisions are made by hiring managers, not algorithms

    AI does not make decisions in our recruitment process and our managers are being upskilled to spot AI in applications, particularly when this might have been used in a way that doesn’t feel genuine. If something in an application raises a question or concern, we will test this out with assessments or at the interview stage to confirm authenticity.

    Our aim isn’t to catch anyone out but to make sure we’re getting to know the real you, giving every candidate a fair chance and finding the right person for the role.
