The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for several new General Assistant positions at both Laburnum Lodge (Breightmet) and Wilfred Geere House (Farnworth).

What will your working week look like?
Contractual hours ranging between 14-20 hours a week (to be discussed at interview)
Opportunities to pick up additional shifts
Rolling 4-week rota
Working between 7:30am 7pm dependant on shift pattern
Weekend on/ weekend off basis to promote work/life balance

You will be:
Ensuring general cleanliness and high standards of hygiene are maintained throughout the premises.
Ensuring that bedding and resident’s personal clothing are clean and freshly laundered.
Completing deep cleans when required.
Completing cleaning schedules in accordance with Bolton Council & NHS requirements.

What do we do?
We provide 24-hour residential care for service users who require continuation of care and rehabilitation, across two units: Laburnum Lodge, situated in Breightmet; and Wilfred Geere House in Farnworth. The aim of the Units is to support residents to regain as much independence as deemed achievable and return home or move onto alternative care arrangements. At Bolton we recognise the skills individuals can bring and promote joint working, with both NHS staff and local authority staff working on-site. You will play a vital part in ensuring we are infection control compliant on site.

About You
The ideal candidate will be motivated and be able to work alone and as part of a team. You’ll be task focussed and motivated to get the job done.

Previous experience is not necessary, but you’ll need to be able to follow instructions and work to deadlines. You’ll be required to have a flexible approach to working hours, as we work shifts between the hours of 7.30am and 7pm and work on Bank Holidays.

There will be a requirement that you complete cleaning schedules and use some equipment to assist in the cleaning of the premises. Training will be provided.

    We’re open to using innovative digital tools where they can help us work smarter and deliver better services for our residents. However, every use of AI is carefully considered to make sure it is ethical, responsible, and aligned with public-sector values.

    When it comes to recruitment, we take a human-centred approach.

    This means:

    • A trained hiring manager reads every application

    • Shortlisting is based on objective criteria required for the job

    • Interviews are conducted in person or via teams by the hiring manager for the role

    • All hiring decisions are made by hiring managers, not algorithms

    AI does not make decisions in our recruitment process and our managers are being upskilled to spot AI in applications, particularly when this might have been used in a way that doesn’t feel genuine.
