Contract- Permanent

Hours- Full time and part time available

Salary- NJC Grade H2 £43,149 - £47,665 per annum

Come to the seaside; help us put Blackpool back on top!

We are currently looking for two senior planners to join the team working 37 hours a week (part time will be considered) on a salary which ranges from £43,149 to £47,665.

If you are looking for a fresh challenge, if you want a unique opportunity to broaden your experience and help shape the future of the nation’s favourite seaside destination then this could be the job for you.
Blackpool really is unique, where else could you find a £2 billion+ regeneration programme including:
- a £90 million Inner Area Housing Improvement Programme;
- £350m investment in Talbot Gateway - a multi-phase town centre commercial hub;
- major leisure development in Blackpool Town Centre at Blackpool Central;
- a 144 hectare Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone to deliver 5,000 new jobs;
- the biggest Town Deal Programme in the country with £40.5m towards 7 schemes;
- hotel schemes to complement the Winter Gardens new Conference and Exhibition Centre; and
- £40m of Levelling Up Fund scheme to transform our educational offer with The Multiversity

With a population of around 141,000 living in a borough of less than 35 square kilometres, Blackpool is an incredibly compact urban authority with a unique seaside heritage of roller coasters, piers and the iconic Blackpool Tower.

However, the town suffers from high levels of inner area deprivation that sadly top the national charts presenting a huge challenge.  We are a Unitary Authority which brings together the functions of planning, highway management, public protection, social care, education and health which enables a truly holistic approach to development and regeneration.

As a Senior Planner, you will be joining an incredibly passionate team committed to addressing the challenges that Blackpool faces.

You will be involved in driving forward the future of Blackpool helping deliver the new Local Plan. You will have a key role to play in shaping and influencing this new plan to ensure sustainable high quality development that promotes the resort, enhances our communities, protects the vulnerable and changes the face of our town for the better.

We appreciate that you might not be local, and that you might not be in a position to relocate, but if you are the right candidate for Blackpool we can explore options around hybrid working.

Blackpool Council is an equal opportunities employer.
