Salary: Grade 5, £23,728 - £26,131 per annum.

Permanent

We are looking for someone who takes genuine satisfaction in getting the details right the kind of person who notices an error on a piece of work before it is sent, not after.

This role sits at the centre of school life, and the pace of work reflects that: data input and reports, correspondence, records, telephone enquiries from parents and face to face enquiries from students, and the many smaller tasks that arise alongside them. The successful candidate will need to maintain a high standard of accuracy while working at pace, ensuring that a busy morning does not come at the expense of quality.

We are not looking for someone who waits to be told what to do next. Where something needs attention, or could be done more effectively, we want you to take the initiative and act on it. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and is committed to completing every task to the required standard.

Previous experience in a school is not essential, as full training will be given to bring you up to our standards. What matters most is a genuine interest in office-based work, together with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel you do not need to be an expert, but you need to be confident and willing to learn.

What we are looking for:

  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in relation to records, data and correspondence, where errors can have a significant impact
  • A genuine sense of pride in your work and a commitment to seeing tasks through to a proper standard
  • The initiative to identify and resolve issues without requiring constant direction
  • The capacity to work at pace and manage a demanding workload in a busy school office
  • A strong and consistent work ethic that colleagues can rely on
  • A working knowledge of Word and Excel, and a genuine interest in office administration

We would welcome applications from candidates who recognise these qualities in themselves.

We are committed to delivering the highest standards, and our staff are proud to belong to the school. We believe that Lowton Church of England High School is a great place to be.

Our school is underpinned by its Christian values of Caring, Learning and Succeeding. These palpably define the culture of the school and are at the heart of everything we do, and of everything we ask of ourselves, of our pupils and parents and of our wider community. Everyone is valued in our school, and we focus daily on creating a sense of belonging, of high aspiration and of personal excellence and achievement for every pupil, every member of staff and for every family we serve.

The future at Lowton is exciting. The conditions are perfect for us to continue our journey towards being exceptional in all we do. In applying for this role, you could be part of our exciting journey towards excellence.

Closing date: Midnight 1st November 2026

Interview date: To be confirmed

Early applications are encouraged and we reserve the right to close the vacancy early if a suitable candidate is found.

We welcome applications from those seeking long-term permanent roles, but would be open to discussion around a fixed-term year where the role may support future training for roles within education.
