Role Overview:

Working in the multi-disciplinary Neighbourhood Enforcement Team In Environmental Health you will deal with all aspects of Private Sector Housing enforcement including responding to complaints from tenants, proactive enforcement of potential House in multiple occupation and ensuring compliance with standards referred from the Selective Licensing scheme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To improve the private rented sector through engagement with landlords and tenants and to take enforcement action when necessary.
  • Use the full range of enforcement powers including Housing Act, Environmental Protection Act.
  • Manage own workload, follow up cases on a timely basis and support team members

Key Requirements:

  • To be qualified in Housing Related areas such as HHSRS, Environmental Health, Building related subject, or Advanced Practitioner in the Private Rented Sector, and have experience of working in a Private Rented Housing Enforcement Team.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and be available to support other team members when needed.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to effectively deal with all residents and landlords in Oldham as well as other departments in the Council and Partner Agencies.
