If so, then you’ll want to join Team Wigan where you can be part of the team that helped to achieve the accolade of ‘Council of the year’ in both 2019 and 2021!

The way we work in a person-centred way connecting with people and connecting with communities through our Deal for Adult Social Care and Health is renowned and respected nationally.  Our staff are as important as our customers.  We know that happy teams make the best teams and so we provide a supportive workplace where you’ll be encouraged to develop professionally.  We offer flexible working and are happy to talk with you about working hours which fit with the requirement of the service and also your home life.  You’ll also benefit from being able to work from several bases across the borough, as well as the opportunity to work from home where appropriate.

In our first Workplace Wellbeing Charter accreditation we were recently awarded excellence in Mental Health, Absence Management, Health and Safety, and Leadership standards, evidencing how much we care about supporting staff wellbeing, especially that of our great social workers.

So, if you’re looking for a social work career within a highly motivated, well-managed and supportive team where you’ll enjoy a fulfilling role with high job satisfaction, then Wigan is the place for you.

With opportunities in our Adult Locality Teams in Ashton (full and part-time) and Wigan (full-time) and within the TOCH/Independence Team (Hospital discharge) we‘d love to hear from you. Just give us a quick call to have an informal chat, so you can make sure that Team Wigan is the place for you. TOCH/Independence Team (Hospital discharge) is a 7 day service on a rota basis.

Wigan Council strives in attracting, to recruit and retain high calibre skilled staff which the people of the borough voiced in the Deal 2030. We are an inclusive Council who trains and develops our staff in a positive learning environment.

We aim to be consciously inclusive and therefore applications from all sectors of the community are welcomed. We would particularly encourage candidates from a black and minority ethnic (BAME) background and candidates with health conditions or impairments to apply for the role.
