Workforce Development Officer - Early Help

Salary: Grade 8, £33,945 - £38,223 per annum.

Your role:

Our new Early Help and Prevention Strategy requires a strong Early Help System which is made up of many different types of practitioners and services who operate as one to deliver whole family working in a connected approach. It encourages an understanding by the whole system of early help and suggests a culture of shared practice and principles.

We are looking for a passionate, engaging and organised Officer to lead in developing and implementing an annual programme of learning, consultation and engagement with both internal and external stakeholders in line with current legislation and the WSCP policies and procedures. This a great opportunity to drive forward the work of the partnership supporting safeguarding local leads and Learning and Development to devise, deliver and evaluate training/development programmes and record training compliance. The role will lead on developing new and exciting communication and learning methods and platforms that are innovative and support a more engaged workforce that positively impacts on safeguarding.

This role will plan, develop, deliver and evaluate training in line with national and local safeguarding requirements and will promote effective practice, that enables staff to identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.

The role requires direct work with key partners to the development of a wider workforce that is creative, strength based and drives forward the priorities of the WSCP. The role will assist the WSCP to include implementation and assure the quality of an early intervention approach to safeguarding, ensuring the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led provision of safeguarding activities.

About you

You will be a strong communicator, organised with project management skills and safeguarding experience. You will be able to adhere to Wigan Councils three behaviours, be positive, accountable, and courageous.

You will understand partnership working, and an appreciation of critical success factors needed for a working partnership to function efficiently and effectively (active engagement and participation of agencies, collaborative approach to designing solutions to problems, mutual co-operation between agencies).

You will be able to carefully and sensitively listen to what others have to say at all levels of the organisation and check your own understanding before acting with an ability to monitor and evaluate performance of self to ensure excellent service delivery.

Evidence of a recognised training qualification is desirable as well as experience in practice and training of the required subject matter.
