We’re looking a Travelshop Assistant to join our Facilities Operations team at Shudehill Bus Station, supporting customers across the Bee Network.

Your Role

As a Travelshop Assistant, you’ll be a familiar and welcoming face for customers using public transport across Greater Manchester. You’ll help people make informed travel choices, supporting them with their onward journeys and ensuring they receive accurate, up to date information.

No two days are the same. You’ll meet a wide range of customers from all walks of life and play a key role in creating a safe, friendly and professional environment within our Travelshops.

Your duties will include:

  • Providing face to face advice and support to customers
  • Selling a range of tickets and travel products (including rail tickets at some locations)
  • Handling cash and card transactions accurately in a busy environment
  • Ensuring all travel information (verbal and printed) is current and available
  • Managing the security of the Travelshop
  • Promoting a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all customers

The Facilities Operations team is responsible for the safe operation of TfGM’s operational sites and for providing facetoface help and assistance to Bee Network customers.

We’re a frontline service and play a vital role in ensuring transport services and facilities across Greater Manchester remain accessible, safe and reliable.

We’re looking for people who:

  • Enjoy working face to face with a wide range of customers
  • Have a strong customer service mindset and enjoy helping people on their journeys
  • Can handle cash transactions accurately in a busy environment
  • Have basic experience using Microsoft Office
  • Ideally have experience using ticketing systems (such as the Fujitsu Star System), although full training will be provided
  • Able to work flexibly on a rota system between 7am and 6pm Monday to Saturday, 8.30am to 4pm Sunday and 8am to 5pm bank holidays, for which you will receive 12.5% shift allowance.

We currently have a permanent vacancy at Shudehill Travelshop with a starting salary of £29,836 per annum plus 12.5% shift allowance.
